LATEST PANEL: Fixed Income ETFs: Navigating Risk and Yield in a New Rate Regime

James Malick is the Chief Strategy Officer for Point72, where he is responsible for assessing & building new business opportunities and leading strategic cross-functional initiatives. Leveraging nearly 30 years of experience in financial services, he has built and operated several businesses across two of the premier franchises in alternative asset management.

As CSO for P72, James is responsible for driving strategic growth across the enterprise, including new business development and scaling up the platform for the multi-strategy hedge fund, venture fund, and private credit businesses. He is a member of the Senior Leadership Group as well as the Investment Services Operating Committee. James joined P72 from Millennium Management, where over a decade he functioned as the Global Head of Corporate Development, deputy to the COO / Chief of Staff, and Global Head of Strategy. In that capacity, he built and operated Corporate Development, Business Strategy, Project Execution, Trading Services, Enterprise Data Analytics/AI, Operational Risk Mgmt, Vendor Risk Mgmt, Business Continuity Mgmt, Technology Business Mgmt, and Branding & Communications. James chaired Millennium’s Operational Risk and BCP Committees. He represents P72 on the MFA’s Chief Operating Officer council, as he did for MLP.

Prior to Millennium, Mr. Malick was a Partner and Managing Director at the Boston Consulting Group, where he built deep expertise in corporate finance, capital markets, and private credit. Prior to BCG, James worked at Deloitte Consulting and spent his earlier career in fixed income institutional sales at Barclays Capital, FX & Commodities trading at ABN Amro, and debt restructuring and private investments for a private equity fund. He has been quoted frequently in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, the FT, and other market publications. He has also provided live market commentary for numerous news outlets.

Mr. Malick earned a BSc in applied science from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Columbia Business School. He serves on the board of About U Outreach, a non-profit dedicated to leveling the playing field for New York City students by providing high quality academic resources, physical preparation, and high school and college admissions assistance.
