Frank Siller
Chairman & CEO
Tunnel to Towers Foundation
Keynote Speaker
Frank Siller has served as Chairman and CEO of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation since its inception, transforming personal tragedy into a powerful force for good that has touched thousands of lives across America.
Born from the devastating events of September 11, 2001, the Foundation honors Frank's younger brother, Stephen Siller, an FDNY firefighter from Squad 1 in Brooklyn. On that fateful morning, Stephen had just finished his night tour and was heading home when he heard about the attacks on his radio. Without hesitation, he turned his truck around, grabbed his gear from the firehouse, and headed toward the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. When he found it closed for security reasons, Stephen strapped on 60 pounds of equipment and ran through the tunnel to reach the South Tower, where he joined his squad members. He never returned home, giving his life to save others.
Shortly after this profound loss, Frank suggested starting a foundation to honor what Stephen and countless other heroes did that day. His family agreed, and the Tunnel to Towers Foundation was born, named after Stephen's heroic final journey. What began as a family's tribute has grown into a nationally recognized organization dedicated to serving those who serve us.
Before dedicating himself full-time to the Foundation, Siller was a successful entrepreneur who owned several businesses, including a retail operation and home building company. One of his greatest joys was working alongside his younger brother Stephen, teaching him the building trade. Even after Stephen joined the FDNY in 2007, he continued working with Frank to support his young family, as many firefighters must juggle multiple jobs.
Frank's extensive home-building experience became instrumental in shaping one of the Foundation's signature programs. During a visit to Sergeant Brendan Marrocco, the first- ever surviving quadruple amputee, at Walter Reed Hospital, Siller was moved to help Marrocco reclaim his independence. He offered to build him a mortgage-free, specially adapted smart home, founding what would become the Tunnel to Towers Smart Home Program for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders.
For more than two decades, Siller has devoted himself to serving America's heroes. The Foundation carries out its mission to "do good" by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children, building specially adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders, working to eradicate veteran homelessness, and ensuring America Never Forgets September 11, 2001. To date, the Foundation has invested hundreds of millions of dollars supporting those who defend our freedoms and their families.
Siller's extraordinary service has earned him numerous honors, including being named Honorary Battalion Chief by FDNY Commissioner Salvatore Cassano in 2010. In 2015, he received both the Department of the Army Commanders Award for Public Service—the fourth highest honor the United States Department of the Army can bestow upon a civilian—and the NYPD's Holy Name Society Presidents Award. In 2019, he was named the Police Benevolent Association's Person of the Year and received the Christopher Leadership Award for the invaluable aid he brings to catastrophically injured veterans, first responders, and Gold Star Families. Frank and his wife Patricia are the proud parents of three children and grandparents of five grandchildren. They live in Staten Island, New York.
